I applied poliglow to the deck section after a good cleaning. The product works fine but requires many coats. I friend applied last year and poliglow is doing fine. My partner commented that poliglow smells like mop and glow which you use to wax and clean a vinyl floor. Well, I purchased a $5 bottle and can not see any difference between the two products. Deck looks great and alot cheaper. Both products require ammonia to strip. Could poliglow be mop and glow ? Has anyone else tried this ?

when I was applying mine, I thought it had a familiar smell and texture to it. I suppose the only way to really tell is to do test patches of each and see how they hold up. As with all things with boats and sun, UV is a big part of a products ability to hold up.

Removal
Hi, I used a similar type product several years ago, my problem was the hull wasn't as clean as it should have been, and the product did begin to yellow. I worked with ammonia as strong as I could, and I feel that it did not remove the wax, I complained the following year at the Atlantic city boat show, they gave me a bottle of their remover, that was also mostly not effective. what I removed it with was laquer thinner, I saturated a rag, wet the hull in small sections, then used steel wool and rags to remove the stuff. I followed that with orange rubbing compound,polish,and then wax. The results were good, but I would not use this type product again unless I could easily remove it.I agree, it smells like the floor wax!

PolyGlow works!
I read the posts about PolyGlow with interest as we have used the product now for three years and I think it is fabulous. Our boat is a 1989 H30 and one kit does the entire hull with a bit to spare. It goes on easily, lasts forever (we used it on the hull before launching last spring and I can still see myself at 20 yds. away), and does not yellow. Floor wax will yellow and is a bear to remove. PolyGlow's stripper is easy to use following the directions. The instructions state to use five coats. We apply the coats in a continuous process, going around the boat from bow to stern. Washing the surface with the cleaner and applying the five coats takes about an hour or so. We attach an old mop handle to the applicator to make it easier to reach the hull. Initially we used five coats but now we just apply two or three coats as maintenance coats. We based our purchase of this product on Practical Sailor's tests of this and other similar products. Their test results are right on. Our boat looks great with a minimum of effort. IMHO it also helps to shed dirt as I don't think we have as much difficulty cleaning the exhaust stuff from the stern. We'll be at the Rendezvous in Solomons this July so if you have any doubts, stop by & check it out!

beware some of these coatings
Just make sure this is what you want for the long run. The guy I bought my boat from loved this stuff called NU GLASS, and it turned into one of the biggest headaches I have had when it got old and I tried to get it off. It is apparently some kind of acrylic coating (reminded me of the old Mop n Glo I tried to use on my combat boots years ago) but was nearly impossible to get off. There are still small signs of that stuff. Problem is that when it aged it got streaks and gray splotches in it, some of it comes off and some of it will not. Just watch out for this shortcut. I have finally gone back to the old paste wax. Not as pretty in the short run, but you know what you will have in the longer run. I have talked with others that have had bad experiences with similar coatings.
