It is time to strip off and start anew with my poliglow. I don't want this to turn in to a PG vs IG or any other brand discussion (but it probably will :). But before the ruckuss begins I have a quick question. I see some folks saying that you can strip Poliglow with an ammonia based cleaner...Any one have expierence with this? What did you use? I have an order of PG and the Polyprep on the way, but if any one has any suggestions on a better way to strip the old acrylic I would appreciate it. Scott

From the PoliGlow site

To maintain a shine for more than twelve months, reapply one or two coats at the beginning and end of each season or every 4 to 6 months. To reapply, clean boat with soap and water and apply Poli Glow. If stains are left on the surface and penetrate Poli Glow, use Clenz-All to remove stains. Then reapply Poli Glow. If scratches or wear spots occur, they can be touched up by applying a few coats of Poli Glow. Maintenance is easy, as dirt and grime will not adhere to Poli Glow finish. Avoid contact with ammonia based products, degreasers, teak or hull cleaners and abrasive cleaners. Also.... Q. Do I need to use Poli Prep prior to my maintenance coats just like I did when initially applying the product? A. No, No a thousand times No. Poli Prep is used for 2 things. One is to remove oxidation/wax etc. prior to your initial application of Poli Glow. Two is to remove the Poli Glow (for appliqués/ stick on lettering etc.)

what is the best solution

ok, just to clarify. I currently have PG on the boat. I neglected to PG last season and have some minor flaking off of the PG on the hull. My intention was to remove all the old PG and start again...should I just remove the flaking areas and re-apply or do the entire hull again? if so, do I use the poly prep for the flaking? I have no idea how old the PG on the boat is, I bought the boat last spring and the seller told me he had put PG on it. ---and gave me the remains of his PG kit.

Use only PoliPrep to remove acrylic finish.

Stongly suggest that you go to their website and read all about how to use it, and how to maintain it.
