Good day folks, First let me state that I've no association with PolarView other than being a VERY satisfied consumer. This thing is the nuts, truly. It's MUCH more intuitive than the others I've tried and they are many. I suppose I've tried just about every shareware, free, demo version of software out there. I have an issue with popping for $300 or so for such a piece (I know, I know) but with PolarView having a free trial version I gave it a shot. I like it so much I bought it. It's really a neat piece of software. Give it a shot and see what you think. I hope this helps someone cut their search short. Jim (S/V Two Can) 78 Cherubini 30

Short version

OK with all the other free stuff out there why pay out $300 is it really that good $$$$$.
I have my Ray C-80 that does most of what these free Nav software do and I can even put my chip into my 46 HD tv and setup routes and what not so give us some more info why spend $300.

Does it come with any upto date charts like in my ray C-80 witth chip that covers all east coast usa down around Florida to north of Tampa.
I will need to watch the demo to see what it does,my C-80 gives me all the info out on the water ,depth plus tides current, complete marina info and I also have Radar,XM weather and lots of other info while out sailing.

Just heard about this software from ActiveCaptain Newsletter. AC states that you can add in AC data and reviews for times when you're not able to go online. Haven't tried the software yet. But I've been looking for something to replace my current software which wants the $300 to reinstall the tides and currents. Heck, my gps still gives me that for free. And $40 sounds a lot more reasonable to me.

CCrane,

You'd be right. Don't you just HATE it when people don't proof read?

Thanks for catching that.
