This is pretty cool. True RMS volt/amp readings and it also has recording/logging capabilities and oscilloscope. Inexpensive too. If you already carry an iPhone you're more halfway there.

PS I have no financial interest in this. Just posting as an FYI because I think most of us as DIYers are interested in new tools.

It is an interesting device. Keep an eye out on Kickstarter. I've heard that they will be launching a Kickstarter campaign in the very near future.

I've been following these guys for a while. They originally said August for Kickstarter but 3 months late isn't too bad for a miniaturized development like this. $50 seems like a screaming deal for a multimeter/oscilloscope/data-logger.

There is also the Mooshimeter. I have owned one for a while, but still reach for my Fluke instruments 98% of the time...

The AC voltage limit is 42V, so not really applicable to sailboat systems beyond troubleshooting some rare electronic internals. A maximum of 2A limits its usefulness also.
