Pointing improved

I am so pleased! My pointing ability has been relatively poor (although I could outpoint a square-rigger) but yesterday I was able to make good slightly better than 45 degrees off the wind including leeway, steering about 40 degrees off and making 3 to 4 kts. 8 kts or so breeze, about 10 degrees of heel, with my 150 genoa which has a low cut foot sheeted inside the lifelines and jib fairleads somewhat aft so that the sail was an inch off the spreader.
Still not spectacular but about right I think for my boat and sails.

I find that novice sailors who crew with me will stop cranking in the Genoa WAY before it is properly trimmed. "Keep cranking", I tell them. These a big load sails and the feedback can suggest that you have it sheeted tight when in fact, it is not. It can be a real work-out. Sounds like you now know where that sail needs to be trimmed and can recreate that trim in the future.

I see a 8+ degree pointing improvement with new sails last year. In 12kt of relative wind 36 degrees now down to 27-28 degrees.
