Was a TOTAL BLAST. The breeze was forecast to be between 15 and 20 knots from the North. Instead it ending up being slightly to the west, which made it more of a close reach on the Pogo because it pushes the Apparent Wind so far forward. So no spin but we jib-reached at 11-12 knots for 30 miles to Hydra!Woohoo!!! This is very nice!
It's hard to image how unworldly this boat real is. I tell people it's a 3/4 scale IMOCA Vendee Globe racer that a good sailing couple can manage. We have a blast. It's 5 feet longer than our First 36.7, but weighs less. And over 1/2 of that weight in in a lead bulb 12 feet below the hull on a lifting keel. 15 feet of beam, it does not heel, it just squirts forward. Ungodly fast but easy to sail as long as you stay in front of the boat.Nice winch placement, lots of line storage, handy, yet out of the way. Sweet.
Would I be forgiven if I admitted that the winches, the line storage, and for that matter the island in the background were not the first, second or third things I noticed in the picture?Nice winch placement, lots of line storage, handy, yet out of the way. Sweet.
Above 9 knots the boat has really no wake at all. It fully planes and water just hisses off the transom. The Pogo 12.50 video shows a rather large asym, and almost NO bow wave. That's nasty.![]()
Yes... Pia has a way of making even foulies look good.Would I be forgiven if I admitted that the winches, the line storage, and for that matter the island in the background were not the first, second or third things I noticed in the picture?
