That's a really pretty boat. I like the classic styling, inside and out.

Wow, That's A Lot of Engine!

I remember that they had a single cylinder Yanmar.

Love that boat, but the fund to purchase and to adequately support a boat like that just aren't with me these days.

It would be hard to get me to trade that thing for my Montgomery 17 if I couldn't turn around and sell it due to the fact that my little dream boat is easy to afford, easy to handle and can take me pretty much anywhere I want to go.

But, I would love to be able to afford that thing, and have the time to use it properly.

I am lucky to have a great friend that owns one just like the video. I sail with him out of Channel Islands Marina, Oxnard, California. The boat is everything that the video shows but they didn't mention that she needs some good winds to sail. She doesn't even start to sail until we get up to 16 knots. Ghosting is a rock and roll adventure. That said, I love sailing this Great Little Pocket Cruiser! The local dolphins love her too.

Her little sister the Flicka 20 was always my favorite boat but today I think I would take the Dana 24 over the Flicka 20. I remember checking out the Dana at the Boston Boat Shows years ago. These boats are really built.

I almost bought a Mac 22 that day. In fact, the Mac dealer was set up next to the Pacific Seacraft dealer and and after looking at the Mac I gave the sales girl a small binder for the Mac.

The Mac dealer said to me, " That Dana 24 is OK with all it's Teak, but ya see this boat here? Why,--you could take a garden hose and wash out the whole inside of this boat if you wanted to." I thought to myself after he said that, " What's this guy smoking? wacky tobaccy?"

Later on in the day I checked out the 1986 O'Day 222 and put some money down on one. I went back to the Mac dealer and told him that I had changed my mine and they sent me back my money. True story.

Cruiser porn? With that stripper pole in the cabin, maybe.

Honestly, $100K for a 24 foot sailboat, well, I guess they dont have to build as many. But it is nice, and from what ive read is quite capable.

In the Bus conversion world, many refer to the run of the mill RV's as "sticks and staples". I guess the same is seen in the boat world, and why not? Dont we see a lot of boats that are very pretty on the surface, but which simply are not designed or capable of heavy seas. They sell to the ICW cruiser crowd where nothing will ever upset your nick knacks. Then you have those which are capable, but to sell at a reasonable cost are composed of sterile surfaces. No nick knack shelves allowed.

In the automotive world we have the same alternatives. The run of the mill crap everyone uses, or the sterile Mercedes that can take it and run forever. You dont always get what you pay for, but quite often you do. Pay enough though and you can have it all. The Rolls Royce, the Ferrari, or the Lamborghini.

I guess its only fitting someone could build the Rolls Royce of Sailboats. So its not the size, so much as what it can do, and how good it can look doing it. My wife thinks for $100K you should get a lot bigger boat though, so, theres that. The stripper pole didnt rev her up either, just sayin. That might go over big with the dock boys though.

Yeah this is on my list of favorites with the Flicka, Bristol Channel Cutter, Nor'Sea 27, Seaward 24 & 25, Rob Roy, Cape Dory 25, Nimble 20 and 24.
Never had a chance to sail on any of these.
The Rob Roy and Nimbles would be better for our skinny waters with their Sharpie hulls.

It is nice looking classic boat, for those who like this feel and look of their sailboat. But $100,000 its like having a barrage balloon in front of all potential customers...even with 1 cylinder Yanmar diesel. Sorry, I would just pass by it and buy another new boat.

Nothing to be sorry about. I don't like much of the modern, high tech stuff/ styles and I'm not sorry about that.
If we were all the same the world would be a very boring place.:D

We have similar taste in boats. I want a sail boat to look like a classic sail boat. The Norsea 27 is the only boat on my lust list these days, but the price gets in the way. I've never believed in financing boats. That way, if they throw me out of my house, we can always live on the boat and park a shopping cart in the marina. Besides, I'd have to upgrade my tow vehicle for the Norsea. That Dana 24 does look nice, though (but equally unattainable).

Man has to dream of what it would be like to have the "Best of the Best".

Since I bought my 1988 MacGregor 26D, I have lusted after many a boat. Reality keeps me grounded (wife) so I am really lucky to have friends with benefits.

Stripper Pole, never thought of it that way but it peeks my interest

Oh yeah. I read somewhere that after going through all of the logical points of selecting and inspecting a boat, a sailor should make sure she makes him/her look back at her as he or she is walking away.
The Dana, Nor'sea, Seaward and others on my list do that for me. I'm facinated by the performance of modern rocket ship- race boat but they don't do anything for me visually. But that's just me.
