Has anyone removed/replaced the plywood bulkhead in an O'Day 222? It's the one at the companionway that holds the electrical panel. Mine has some decay at the lower portion of the threshold where the drop boards leaked in the past. It appears only to be held in by screws. Easy to get out? Any idea what type finish might match the factory orangy teak?

I removed mine last fall and it was pretty easy.
One of the first things that you need to remove is the breaker panel and you can't do that without removing the individual breakers first. Disconnect the battery cables first. Then I would lay a white towel under the area because the screws that hold the breakers are so tiny that they could bounce off a hard surface of the settee and get lost easy. When the breakers are free, you can remove the breaker plate. After that, you have the molding around the companionway plus about four or five wood screws and that bulkhead will come out. I have no idea on the matching finish. When I removed all the wood out of my cabin last year, I sanded it and changed the finish to a dark red Mahogany color.
