how do I get a 11/8" hose from my bilge to the stern on a 76 c27? also is there a way to get the engine compartment to drain into the bilge? currently it fills and comes over the engine door and across the sole (and carpet).

Plumbing in a C27

I have a 1974 C27. It has a hose that connects from the bildge pump, through the engine compartment, and out through the stern. The hose is smaller in diameter than the passageway between the bilge and engine compartment so water draines into the bildge directly. When I first got the boat I didn't keep the engine compartment as clean as I should, and the passageway would clog and water would build up in the engine compartment. I then would have to take a wire coat hanger and rod the passageway to set the water flowing once more. Not really a problem now since I keep my engine compartment pretty clean and dry. This passageway is below the sole and connects the engine compartment with the bilge. It sounds like you don't have one or you can't find it. If I didn't have one I would drill one out and place a conduit through. Hope this helps.

I've got the same set up as Bob. Only, I'm running 2 hoses, 1 for a manual, and 1 for an electic bilge pump. It doesn't leave too much room for water to drain through. I've heard that on some 30's or 34's that a hole can be drilled in the lining near the stuffing box so that water drains under the liner and into the bilge. Has anybody done this on a 27? I'm scared to do that on my own.
