I have an O'day 25 and I need to install a better head then what I have now. I am going to go the marine portable toilet route rather then the holding tank and toilet route. I have the pump out fitting already installed in my deck. My question is, has anyone tried plumbing a Thetford 135 Porta Potti for pump out? I know people have plumbed the 365 and 465 models, but I am not sure if the smallest model is designed for this. I want to stick to the smaller model because the head room I have in my head area.

Thanks

Only "MSD" versions can be fitted for pumpout...

That's the bad news. The good news is, Thetford has "conversion kits" for some models, if not all...so call 'em to find out if one is available for the 135.

Fwiw, though...I'm not sure it's worth plumbing in a 2-3 gallon model...'cuz they don't hold much. I'm guessing that the space for a portapotty is under a v-berth cushion...if you can sit on the bed, you SHOULD be able to sit on the 365 potty, although you might have to bend over a little.

My 465 just arrived, I was amazed at how small it actually is. I had the same reservations. It shouldn't be a problem. It looks taller in the pictures. I did a double take on the box to make sure they sent the right one, even the box looked small.
Where did you get the deck fitting? What kind of hose are you using? I donlt want to use the clear hose for obvious reasons.

The 465MSD is only a 2-3 gallon model...same size as the portable version.

The sailboatowners.com online store right here on this site has the deck fitting, hose and everything else you need for as good a price--often better--than you can get it anywhere else...and you help support the site when you shop here. sbo.com plumbing

You don't want to use clear hose for MORE reasons than the obvious: it's not rated to carry waste or for use as a tank vent line either. It'll permeate and start to stink VERY quickly. If you want hose that shouldn't EVER permeate, use Trident 101 (or 102 if you don't like black, but white will cost you about $2/ft more) for the pumpout and Trident #148 for the vent line. You'll find both if you click on "hose"...

Click on "deck fills" then click on the one that matches the rest of 'em on your boat...you'll see the quote for a "waste" fitting.

Thanks for the heads up on the size of the 465, it is probably what I am going to go with. As far as the deck fitting, I lucked out with that already installed when I bought the boat. As far as Peggie said, the Trident hose has the best reviews for waste hose online. Also, permeation is a big issue with marine waste plumbing.
