plugging holes

Hi Folks,

Speaking of glassing or not glassing over the bilge plug... I bought a
vega this winter (my first boat). I removed the rusted-solid Volvo diesel
and fitted a bracket for an outboard motor. I'm happy with this solution
for now (though it makes me a little sad to have to skip about 2/3 of the
postings on this forum, concerning headaches related to the diesel). But
I may someday want to replace the engine. So my question is, how should I
plug the holes? I want it to be secure and worry free, but not
irreversible. On the raw water intake I figure I'll just close the
sea-cock, or maybe cap it. I'm mainly concerned about the propellor
shaft opening. Any sugestions?

Thanks,
Nathan

Hi Nate,
When I put an outboard on my Vega, I put a cork in the
tube that was snug , tapped it in about 2 inchs then
filled the remaining cavity with 5200 boat adhesive
then glassed it over. If I get another inboard I can
easily tap the tube out. It has been fine for several
years. Zo
