Any input would be appreciated. I need to repair the masthead lights. I have the missing piece, but not sure of the wiring. Also, has anyone had success getting rid of plexiglass cracks. I have attached photos if it helps. thanks!

The boat is a Hunter 23.5

p.s. attached an extra photo from a recent sail.

The deck socket looks like a standard West Marine item...I bought one a couple of days ago for $19.95. You can choose between a two and four contact model - both come complete with the male plug and the deck mounted female socket. My recollection is that my masthead light is a two wire connection rather than four. You should have no trouble cutting back the dangling corroded wires to clean wire and splicing in a section to connect your new plug to the new deck socket. If you are using an incandescent mast head bulb, you'll not need to worry about mating positive or negative leads.

I assume the cracked wire insulation in the left of your picture is the VHF antenna. I dumped the fixed vhf and antenna which came with Maurepas. I found a handheld vhf is more than adequate for boat to boat communications on Lake Ponchartrain. I have a cell phone to call the USCG for emergencies. By taking out the radio and sealing the antenna hole in the coach roof I eliminated a source of cabin leaks.

Kind regards

Hugh

The cracks in the plexiglass is what is called glazing and there is no way to repair other than replacement. You will need to follow the advice of the fellow who advised removing and using the old as templates. If squeamish, you can email me as I am in Zebulon and the fact I am the one who had Hunter build the 23.5 for me. email is davecondon@mindspring.com for you in sanford
