i saw apost on this topic a while bak- either here or on th 28.5 site.
what i recall is that while the plexiglas may be "cloudy" and or scratched, it is possible to buy a replacement - the real PITA is tryinto to unbed and unfasten the cover it slides forward into.

check the huntertwentyeightfive.com site for any info

If it's only cloudy or scratched try buffing it out with machine compound.Did it to all hatches and windows on my 23.5.Good as new.

Replaced the Lexan on the sliding hatch cover on my Hunter 37c. The old hatch was cracked and had lost its shape due to the sun beating on it all day. The new hatch was fabricated by Annapolis plastics. They had to bake a piece of Lexan in a mold to get the curve right. Then I put on the teak pieces and its look beautiful. The guys at Annapolis plastics took a picture and show it to all their customers.

for those that might want to try buff it out...what might one use, I was thinking of using the headlight lens kit (sold at Harbor Freight among other places). for $14 a pair of lens it was ok but I had expected a better result on the ol VW jetta lens covers.

I had to do my porthole plastics. What I ended up using was a stick of the jewelers rouge and a stick of tripole with a buffing wheel on my drill. Use a drill with a cord not batteries[they won't last long enough}. I got all of the above at Home Depot.
