I am a brand new owner of a Capri 18 1989 and do not have a manual. Can not seem to get the boomvang hooked to the boom correctly. Does anyone have photos they can post if so please do.
Thanks

Here are some photos of the vang, and the boom-kicker from our 1988 Capri-18.

Attached are some additional photos of the boom vang, and the boom kicker on our Capri-18. It attached to a loop on the bottom rear of the mast tabernackle, and then to a hound on the bottom of the boom. The cleat was to the rear as shown to easily pull the line to tighten the vang. The boom-kicker was nice because it would support the boom when the sail wasn't raised, and actually lifted the boom slightly so when I was running, or wanted a fuller mainsail, is would raise the boom a few inches. But, it was VERY important to pull the boom down level when gybing or tacking so the end of the boom wouldn't hang-up and snag on the back-stay. Also, as the photos show, I installed snap-shackles on both ends of the vang. This simplified rigging and de-rigging, and just made the process just that much easier and quicker.

The Capri-18 is probably one of the best performing overly built small boats out there. She will take much more than you can, trust me. You have a GREAT little boat! Have fun with her!

The one photo shows her moored at Catalina Island. We made two trips to the island with her.

What a GREAT little boat!

Don
