I second the response.

It will be quite involved, spendy and will remove that "feeling" that is so nice in the smaller boats. Ray

Why would you want to do that.

The second time I took our CAL 2-46 out the cable steering broke. Luckily there was an emergency Tiller onboard. It was so much more enjoyable sitting back at the stern and steering with my toe that I still think about adding a second engine control back there. The fact is that with a spade rudder a wheel is a waste.

Things to consider

I too have been thinking about the conversion to a wheel. The biggest problem seems to be when docking and tight manuvers. I have an outboard and the controls are down on the engine.. You cant see over the the cabin when your hand is on the engine controls. I dont want the controls inside the cockpit to be bumped onto or the sheets to get tangled in. If i did the conversion, I wounld have the controls there as well..
