My Saturday was a bit more puffy than I expected. As a result, I was occasionally in the right place at the right time to get a good reach going. That's when the fun started. One time, I thought I was going pretty good, and a windsurfer blasted past me like I was standing still. I bet those guys were out again on Sunday, because the wind was blowing at least 5 more. Windfinder said it was around maybe 15-16 knots Saturday about the time I was having some good rides, and then Sunday 22-23 gusts.
During one of my nice rides on Saturday, I was reaching, sitting aft, not hiking much, and I was thinking (in between "Whoo hooo!") that I ought to feel like I was on the edge of control. Except I felt like everything was just ticking along. I guess my choice of a Force 5 fun boat was pretty spot on. After years of looking at power boats and sailboats and kayaks and such, I guess my assessment of anticipated handling and performance isn't so bad.
