Plastic Welding 140/170 ACP cracks?

Has anyone fixed their cracks in plastic hulled (ACP/ASA) 140/170/other boats using as plastic welder? I'd like to try that instead of filling the cracks with Plexus and painting them.

I would also like to find replacement ASA plastic sheet to replace the large cockpit sections which have delaminated and hardened.

Might try a soldering iron with lots of watts. Don't know what kind of plastic or if it will even melt well so your mileage may vary. Treat it just like metal welding with a V groove and plastic stick of same material as the filler rod

The material is most often quoted as Luran S which was a brand name for ASA generic plastic. ASA is available on Amazon in welding rods. I'd buy a real plastic welder to try this. Just wondering if others have done it.
