Anybody know anything about these double hull plastic rowboats? Thinking of buying one for a tender. It is over 15 years old but looks to be in great shape. See photo. Thanks!!

If it looks like that after 15 yrs it has to be good for a few more. Looks pretty rugged to me. With the drag loops it reminds me of some of the fording boats the military has had in the past.

Nice.

Ya gonna tow it?

Might be a tad large for a C22 to tow or store on the foredeck.

Otherwise, all boats like that are a tad tipsy compared to inflatables.

Your boat(s), your choice. :)

tipsy is natural selection at its best Stu. My 8' pram used to be tipsy but now it is pretty easy to mess around with. It does get tipsy for new folks though.
Tipsy is easy to fix however, Step into the center of the boat ONLY

We have a 9.4 Watertender. They are a bit of an anchor to tow but they make trips wonderful when we are out for more than a few days and anchoring. We tow it with both the Oday 25 and the Cat 22. We feel it's presence more with the Cat 22, but still worth having. If I was sailing a Venture 22 that I could beach, I would leave it at home.

They do not row as easy as a truly hard dink.

I have five gallon plastic buckets that get very brittle after about six to ten years. They look really nice right up to the day I can break big pieces out of them.

We have a Watertender 9.5

...which we have towed all over SoCal since 1999. I really like it since it's durable, light and cheap and I don't worry about tying it up between work boats at the dock. We spent as much for cushions as the boat. Ours is a tri-hull which may be a bit more stable but also has more drag.

The dinks I have seen and the one we own are a completely different plastic than buckets. Closer to a hard rubber feel than hard plastic.

Stu...not gonna' tow it. Just for use from the shore to the mooring. Wouldn't be too good on the foredeck :) The bucket story worries me. Going to see it in the early AM. What should I do? Pound on the bottom like a drum? Jump on it? ;)

BTW, this is to replace a very heavy wooden tender. Considering aluminum but thinking this may be less likely to damage gel coat. Also, less likely to get stolen 'cause there isn't another one like it for miles and miles. First $500 takes it.
