doug its probabbly still in the bottom of the rudder shaft.
I got my Ida rudder riser last Dec. You probably dropped it. If thats the case its still in the bottom rudder shaft. Mines slipped out when I pulled the tiller bolt out. I had to fish it out of the rudder shaft.---------------------------------------------------------------Paul I think your right, the hollow cylinder around the tiller bolt is used for a roller for the rudder hold down line, I did not think about that since I manually use the plastic shear pins to bolt my rudder down.----------------------------------------------------------------------------for those of you who don't use plastic shear pins, I suggest you try it, it makes a world of a difference on steering the Mac 26. I almost got rid of my Mac 26 thinking it steered sooo bad in (15 knots or more winds)compared to other boats I sailed. I now know its the rudder line stretching causing excessive weatherhelm. I have a theory that those who broke their Ida rudder might of been from this reason. Ive seen my Ida rudder flex exessivly without the shear pins on with a little slack on my rudder line lock. A mistake for those new to sailing the Macs.
