Plastic plates between till and rudder panels

I own a 1994 Hunter 26. The aluminium tiller handle fits inside two metal plates extending from each side of the upper part of the rudder. Two plastic plates provide a pad between the tiller and the two metal plates that the tiller fits inside. These plastic plates are cracked on my boat, and holding on by only one bolt hole each. Does anyone know where I obtain replacements for the plastic parts? Should I call Hunter? Thanks, Slim

Plastic Plates

Call Hunter, they have always been helpful with replacement parts. They will either have parts on-hand or give you contact information for the part(s) supplier.

That's the number George Benson was referring to. He was probably busy retuning his jazz guitar. Ask for Eddie Breedan, the Prince of Parts.

Tiller Plates

Slim, I got my plates from Hunter. Replaced mine last fall along with the rubber gaskets in the rudder housing. Took us a couple of hours to do both projects(after having to redo the rudder because we had the stuff on the wrong side.Made a big difference in how the tiller felt. My tiller has some wallowed out spots from where the plate was missing and the screw wore it out. I'll know more this spring and summer if the tiller project was totally successful Paul H S/V Linda Belle 95 H26

Plastic Spacers in Rudder Assy.

I have a Hunter 23.5 with a very similar rudder configuration. I called Hunter ant they told me that the lower red colored material could be purchased at an auto parts store. I have not yet found a good source for the light colored inserts. They appear to be polyethylene and I have considered purchasing a trash can with flat sides and cutting new ones from that. I was told by Hunter that they would be happy to cut the plastic inserts for $75 per pair. Please advise if you have any better luck. Dirty Jim "Windancer"
