I need a convenient way to store my 11' inflatable dinghy on my boat while at the marina. We can tow while underway and don't particularly want to invest in "real" davits. Has anyone had any experience with the rotating C-shaped "davits" from Plastic Innovations? I don't know if they will work with the rounded profile of the swim platform, though. Still, the price is incredible. Another potential option is the stern rack from Edson (http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|294|299768&id=99044). Straps?
Since you just want to just store and not use underway, have you thought of utilizing a simple strap system made out of webbing? It would have to be sufficiently wide to avoid creasing into your dinghy, but it seems like it would be a relatively simple project. They'd attach to two pad eyes on your swim platfor, wrap up and over your dinghy to your stern rail. The dinghy would tip up and lean against the stern rail for storage. You could try it out with some line first and even tie it off to the base of your stern rail for experimental purposes.
