Plastic in coolant hose

Was replacing a hose on Yanmar 2GM on the coolant side, and inside was a crumpled up piece of tubular plastic that allowed coolant to pass, but would have slowed the flow. No reason it came from anywhere accidental, is this a normal practice?

Strange !! looks like a new hose.. Might have been something the hose was encased in and not removed prior to installation? Definitely should not be in there..

Thanks for your input! I have run the boat since removal, and running temp is down 5 degrees F to 170. Seems fine.
