I have a 1996 Hunter 23.5 and the UV rays have taken their toll on some plastic parts, specifically the plastic part that separates the wheels by the base of the mast. Any idea where I can find a replacement part or modification that has worked? See attached picture. The wheels are fine. It is the plastic that divides them that needs replaced. Any help is appreciated! As always. Cynthia

What brand of spar do you have?

I would suggest that you try Rig-rite or Charleston Spar. You can probably get them locally too, but it may be easier to check these two sites.

That plate can be easily made from a small piece of acrylic that you can get at a hardware store.. Probably had a "flattish" bottom to sit in the bottom of the recess and keep it from turning.. and probably extended a little past the outer diameter of the sheaves in the pocket to keep the halyard in place even if slacked.. Make a couple while you are at it and store one in the boat.. Good Luck..

The answer is to shackle turning blocks into two of the holes on the mast base plate...a simple, permanent fix.

Kind regards

Oringally the 23.5 was a Z spar which you can get parts if offered by this site or from US Spars as they sell the exact Z Spar parts. Long story about Z spar but needs no discussion. As for the piece seperating the two sheaves, it was a piece of delrin plastic installed by Hunter. I would suggest contacting this site to see if they offer or other sites. Sometimes the dealers might have that thickness. Of Course you can cut your own but caution is extremely urged so you do not cut yourself. You could come back with a thick piece of aluminum to seperate the sheaves as well.
