Trying to find a temporary fix for the internal plastic fuel tank on my Tohatsu outboard. The threaded neck of the plastic tank has cracked and I need to somehow bond it back together. I'm trying to order a new tank, but need a short term solution. Any suggestions? I was thinking of 5200, but not sure how that will react when it comes in contact with gas. Friend gave me some sort of magic tape, which worked at first, but lost adhesion when gas hit it. Thanks for any suggestions.

Call your local Nissan dealer

The Tohatsu and Nissan are identical except for the decals. The gas tank is particularly prone to breakage and I've never found anything that will bond after having oily gas in the tank. Should be in stock at a number of East coast dealers.

“5200" won’t stand up to gas, nor any petroleum product. “101" (polysulfide) is gas/oil resistant, but won’t adhere to polyethylene (actually, nothing I know of will). Muffler repair epoxy kit???
