Just got back from a wonderful week in Lake Tahoe, where I got my wife out on the boat for her first time. Thank goodness she loved it. Wind got a little gusty and hairy but overall it was very pleasant. Motored into Emerald Bay due to strong head wind and narrow passage. Third day was a complete blow out 30 mile an hour winds. Nobody on the lake, so we hiked Echo Lake. Fourth day had very little wind. Sailed half way to Emerald with sister and brother-in-law. Winds nearly died about 3/4 way there he is a type A so we fired up the motor. I wished that we had put up the Genoa. Anchored for the day at Emerald in front of Vikolm Castel. Saw many boat campers moored up there. Wife loved second visit to Emeral even more. I would still like to take her out on another lake in southern California for a two day trip. She is still not ready for the Ocean but is working up her courage and enthusiasm. Does anyone have any suggestions for a lake nearby that is good for a Mac 25?

Tey Big Bear

Big Bear Lake is close and very nice. Similar in some ways to Tahoe. The only problem is going up the hill. But if you've gotten up the hill to Tahoe it shouldn't be a problem.

Macgregor 26D Calif. Delta
Consider the Delta

The California Delta could offer you lots of opportunity. It's not a lake, but it can offer anything from heavy nearly SF Bay like conditions to light wind and smooth water, depending on where you go. Countless places to anchor as well. For local advice you might also join and post to Bay Area Macs. Link attached...

Hesperia

This is a very nice lake just east of Oxnard, about 70 miles N of Burbank, up the 101. They have lots of camping available, or you could anchor. Full marina facilities. The surrounding area is very mellow.
