I am considering getting a conversion kit to turn my icebox into a refrigerator and would be very interested to hear where others have placed the compressor and how much airflow the compressor needs. I have a deep locker in the galley in which we use to store a couple of pots and pans that's only about a 3 foot run from the ice box which I was considering- any info/feedback would be appreciated

if that is a dry place it will be good as long as it has good air flow...isotherm makes some water cooled unites that you may want to look into they work great a little pricey but well worth the investment

I've seen some mounted in aft lockers in other boats. H34's have used the space outside of the ice box as Splax pointed out. The 33.5's layout is different.
If need be, a bilge blower could be rigged to come on with the compressor to aid heat dissapation in a tight space.

We have a 1991 35.5 and have had a Adler Barbour system installed in our boat in 1992. The unit is on from May to October every year since 1992 and still work very well. The unit has a vertical freezer (large vertical evaporator). The compressor is on the port side, close to the bulkhead. The CNG reservoir is just aft of it. We installed 2 louvered panels about 8" X 8" in the vertical section supporting the settee. It sure give adequate ventilation. I am including a picture with layout.
