I have a adjustable motor bracket for our 8hp evinrude, That I hope to mount on our Catalina 27 inboard powered as soon as I can for storage when not on the dingy or for a back up just in case " The winds die down" and the main power plant fail's!
I have seen other installations including ,,
Judy's B's rebuild site seems to over kill IMO
on a lot of items, God Bless them!
but pre bent aluminum backer plate for the contour of the stern transom seems a bit over the top when mounting it on a possibly 1/2" or less thick transom!
My thoughts would be to mount a 1/2" thick Marine grade ply wood base on the out side larger enough to spread the load and flexible enough to adjust to the contour of the transom, next possibly do the same thru the aft storage locker on the inside possibly with a piece of sheet rubber towards the transom to absorb some of the vibration transmitted thru hull, seal all bolt holes up good.
Any one do this or thoughts?
Thanks!
