The boom on my 34C Tartan is pitted (she is a bit old, 1970). I don't expect it to look new, but would like to clean her a bit.
I removed and replaced all the slotted fasteners with new Philips head, on the end cap and the cleats.
To remove the fasteners I used PB, which of course stained the aluminum. I used acetone to clean.
In the past I have used Boeing shield, and Aluma Guard from Rupp. (Outrigger mfg.) Just wondering if there is something new or better?
I don't want to use a 3M pad, or steel wool, am not to found of the results, of the work.
Sail on sail on sailor.
