Sounds Good

I am up visiting my MOM in NY but don't Pellican Bay and Cayo Costa which is a real nice State Park and Pellican Bay is a nice place to anchor also.
Fisherman's Village is also nice place to visit for good eating and ice cream and music on weekends, anchor just to east side fisherman's village and dinghy in and also dinghy under the 41 bridge to laishly Park and can short walk into good restaurants in town Punta Gorda.
Others will jump in I am sure and help you out also.

Matlacha is a semi artist community and honky tonk bar scene. Don't miss Bert's Bar. Some of the art is questionable. Looks like any piece of crap that is found by the side of the road and can be painted is called art. I.E steel belted flamingoes. It must be approached from the north (Charlotte Harbor) due to power lines over the channel to the south. If you come down the marked channel stay in the middle and away from the green markers due to shoaling. It is a winding channel so watch you charts for the location of the marks. Easy to run aground but the bottom is mostly soft sucking muck with the occasional oyster shell bar

St. James city at the tip of Pine Island gets mixed reviews. I have never been there so I can't say.

Also South seas Resort on Captiva at red fish pass is nice but pricey. Last summer they ran $1.50/foot specials but I haven't heard anything about this year.
Boca Grande is also a nice stop if you can get into the bayou and anchor stern first. You can also anchor off the ICW just off the golf course in 10ft of water and dinghy around the point to the dinghy dock at the Pink elephant restaurant.
There is also a marina/restaurant (pricey).

If you come in through Stump pass (recently dredged) don't miss San Pedro island. Anchor in the protected harbor off marker 35 (I think) and dinghy back to the park.
