The pin-striping on the side of my cabin with the Hunter logo are becoming worn and weathered. What is the best way to clean this up and make them look "as new" again? Thanks for your help.ChipSV Nautical Rose H23
Chip:This is the easiest way to remove the stripes. You can try a heat gun, but my experience was very poor to say the least. Once the start cracking from the baking in the sun, they are very difficult to remove.Once you get the old stuff off, you can contact Hunter for the Logos and maybe the stripes too. Take a look at this and see what you think.http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=Dion73043149949&fno=17
Steve's right, Chip! I did mine this spring. Call Hunter. They'll send you enough striping and the logos for about 20 bucks! They only have the tape in 2" width, so I cut the dark blue down to about 1-1/2" to match the height of the logo. Makes the boat look like new again! As for removing the old tape, I went a step further than Steve; I used a hair dryer to warm the stuff up a bit while I shaved it off with a razor. The heat softens the tape and it comes off much easier. You can remove the old glue with alcohol. Just be careful with the razor! I put a couple of gouges in the gelcoat by getting overzealous. Enjoy!Jim Maroldos/v: Lil' Wass Ett(when's somebody gonna ask me about that goofy name????)
The name of our H23 was given by it's previous owner (a friend of mine) who is fond of limericks. With that in mind, here goes..."There was a little Full Brog,"Who sat on a Jas Get, "He jumped in the Sitchen Kink, "And got his Lil' Wass Ett"We were thinking about performing the renaming ceremony as has been outlined so well in these forums, but I guess the name's kinda grown on us. Go figure...huh? Jim MaroldoOcean Gate, NJ
