pin hole in SS

I found that the stainless steel sink in my galley has a little pin hole in the bottom which causes water to leak into the drawer under it. I was thinking of just putting a dab of caulking on the bottom side of the sink. Any better suggestions?

If your bored of keeping your finger in the hole then yes, caulking sounds fine to me!

Have had great results with JB Weld on just about everything.

I'd consider the smallest bolt you can fit in with a rubber washer to seal the hole.

Wierd. What would cause the SS sink to have corroded to the point where it develops a pinhole? Something metallic left in the sink for too long?

I would try any of the suggested glue fixes... maybe even 3M 5200 if you can give it a week to dry, but i would also start budgeting to replace the sink.

I had this happen too. Just roughed up the underside around the hole and epoxied it. Been ok for years now.

I went with JB Weld - $5.00 for the pack; 5 minutes to apply it.

SS double sink @ defender: $699 and - what - at least an hour (totally optimistic) to install. Let's see: $5.00 and 5 minutes... $699 and at least an hour...

Yup, I think I made the right decision. And if it only holds for a few months, then I'll have another go at it.

As to how that hole appeared... Now that's a good question. Only thing I know: I store a rubber mat (which I place washed dishes on) in that section of the sink and the result is that there's often some standing water there. But I can't see how that could cause a hole to form. But maybe it did. Maybe those with more expertise than I have can answer that question.
