Nylon collar as support

It might be possible to use the nylon collar at the base of the fiberglass cone and drill and tap (several?) maybe three, holes through it and insert bolts to hold it on the compression post. You would screw bolts into the tapped holes that would then tighten against the post, like a Christmas tree stand holds the tree base. My last boat, a Ranger 20, had a table of simular size as the smaller one here, that was held on the compression post with one "L" shaped bolt through a collar. The smaller table, with less torque toward the long end, should be fairly easy to hold up. Brigg

Great Table

Can you post(or sell) the plans for this project? I would love to do it but have have 2 left hands whem it comes to stuff like this. But I have a friend who can knock it out for me. Maybe Hunter should take a clue from this.

Plans for Modification of 260 Table

I don't have any plans or drawings. Just went into the shop and used some scrap boards to build support according to plans in my head. Took several adjustments to get it right. I'll try to get by the club in the next few days and take some measurements and make a sketch to post. Brigg, I will also measure how far from the post the cut is made. Calvin's criteria was that it be short enough to clear a CD player he had mounted in the cabin top. It would probably have been better to cut it a little farther from the post. I'll tell you what I think the max should be. Brigg, you also asked about using just the nylon collar for the support. I don't think this will work. The table will be too wobbly.

Table Mod

Calvin, where did you get the cushions? They look great and very comfortable. Paul H S/V Linda Belle 95 H26

Cushions...

We bought the boat used. It is a 99 model. The cushions came with it. And yes, they are VERY comfortable when sitting or reclining on them. I suppose the original owner bought them as an upgrade when the boat was new.

Prefer the original table, but...

I do like what you have done to redesign the support to allow the table to convert to a sleeper. I think Hunter should have come up with a way to make that work as std. equip. The original table is designed to spin around at the upper level to extend the V-berth. I usually leave it like that to have more room to move around in the cabin. However, the original table is great when you want to entertain a lot of guest on board. I've had as many as 8 around the table (one sitting on a cooler at the end). It also gives me someplace to spread out the chart when I need to. Fair winds... Tom

If I had 8 people...

Tom, Clearly this is a matter of taste. However, if there were 8 people inside my 260,very soon there would be only 7, because I would be on deck regardless of the weather. When there are 4 it is somewhat comfortable but if a fifth person comes on board I start looking for a way to exit.
