There have been several discussions involving the Raider 33. I thought it might be interesting to post the ipctures and see where, if anywhere the discussion goes. Take a look at the Photo forum. Specifications are similar to the Hunter 33 but there are noticable differences in the shape of the hull. The bilge is much more slack, the hull section just aft of the keel is not flat, the entry is finer, and the aft section is even narrower. It's not bad looking either.

Raider H33 comparison

Thanks Sam for posting the raider photos. Plenty of family resemblance but clearly no twin. The cabin looks a lot more like the first 78 year production of the H33. Just looking at the hull below the waterline suggests that the raider may be less displacement than the H33

starboard quarter pictures

Looks like the transom was developed from rotating the transom surface to a more nearly vertical angle while extending the hull lines aft to meet the new transom angle. The long narrow skeg of the raider doesn't look very robust. The H33 configuration where the rudder just springs from a fixed shallow skeg seems to be better design, strong yet giving some rudder surface forward of the shaft to lessen steering force necessary.

Fascinating!

I just love comparing these two. It also gives a sort of secretive look into Cherubini's head. Two different, yet similar products from the same mind. Deck hardware is obviously from the same sources, tagging along to take advantage of volume buying power. Bomar ports, Bomar hatches, same toe rails and so on. Terry, you made some great observations from the crappy pictures I posted. (Mediocre automatic camera, hard photos to scanner.) Where are Don Bodeman and J C II when we need them to liven this up? I wish I had posted this in the Cherubuni forum as I had intended.
