I recently received a PHRF rating of 219. Is this consistant with what others are getting? I have a 150 genoa. Those of you that race, have you been competitive? Any race tactics? I have found that the boat quickly becomes overpowered and I loose steerage if I don't keep the boat sailing flat. Good luck to all. Thanks.

Boom Vang

Get a boom vang! I got a great deal on one at a consignment shop last week-end. Weather helm goes away,(almost, you must have a little for feeling) upwind angles increase and as a preventer for the main, there is no substitute. Its the best bit of gear I have purchased so far. Happy sailing! We will be at Cape Lookout this week-end and will find out how she does in the Atlantic, albeit coastal Atlantic! s/v LOTUS

Had One

I had a 84 h-27 for ten years and raced it some. I found the longer the race the better chance I had (as long as there was very good winds). It never pointed as well as other simuliar PHRF in my dvision. As I said, heavy winds increase your chance's. Not a good light wind boat but very well built and comfortable.
