I have found a number of PHRF ratings for Hunter 30s that range from 168 to 206. None specify the year. Does anyone know what the rating is for 88-94 Hunter 30s? Thanks, Paul

It is more complex than that

you need to contact your local phrf rater. the boat has lots of rating depending on what your doing and what equipment is used and what sails you have. call the fleet captian of the sponsoring club to get your numeber. many are locally adjusted. and in our area you get three numbers depending on the course being used.

We have a 186 PHRF. LMPHRF are based on you having a 155 Head Sail, a Foulding Prop and a Spinnaker. See Web Link below. We did not have a foulding prop and only 110 head sail last year. We stilltook a fourth in our division of fifteen boats.I added a Martec Mark IV foulding prop and have a Sails East 155 sitting in our family room right now. The H30_88-94 had several size masts heights and balast depending on the year. So you have to search your local database for your PHRF or apply for one. Your local Sail Fleet Captain should be able to help you out. Good Luck!

Mast height and ballast?

ed, I figured that, but I wanted to get a baseline. I've just bought the boat and am thinking about just Wednesday night racing, and I wanted to see which fleet I might be in. Mike, thanks. How do I find out which mast and balast combo I have? Contact Hunter? BTW, 186 sounds like a gift rating for a well prepared 30.

It all Depends what year it was built.

It took us half the season to relize that the traveler for the mast was our biggest advantaage.Moving it up or down determines weather you have weather helm or you can point high. It moves the center of effort in the big main. Your main sail is your main driving force. You have a fractional rig. The Jib is alot smaller than a head sail rig. However, your boat should tack adn jybe on a dime. Very important at the marks and the starts. Hope this will help. Again, your sail fleet captain will help you with your PHRF. Good luck at the marks.
