Can anyone advise what is the PHRF for a 272 sailng with and/or without a spinnaker? The boat is sailed on Lake Simco, Ontario and may be different for other areas, but if you can offer a comparison with other boats such as a Tanzer 22 and 7.5 it would be appreciated and it would give some idea as to time allowances. Try 258 without spin ... it is basically a slow
boat. And it really performs best in triangles. W/L are a real bear to compete in. Most owners say the best improvement after new sails is a folding prop. Vic "Seven"

Handicap for O'Day 272
Thanks Vic, At present the club is using a 237 PHRF which indicates a boat that is just a little slower than a Tanzer 22. To date I have been able to beat all comers and they are complaning that the handicap is to low so thought that I would check around. Charlie

Hey ... I never thought about racing
against 22s. Down in Naples you end up racing against 35 C&Cs, Jenneau 34s Pierson 34s catalina 320s maybe a tartan 40+ ... all with way lower ratings ... Then they give a course that is best for the bigger boats ... then the bigger boats finish and the wind starts to die down ... or the waves start to kick up, which as you know is not great for a 272. The 258 is for a LE with roller reefing, inboard, 2blade, and a standard 130 or so genny. Vic "Seven"

Well Vic, Up here we are racing against a CS 36, CS 30, C&C 27 (he is fast), Sidelman 37 (equiped for cruising), another C&C 27, etc. My boat has an outboard and at this time we do not fly a chute but I am checking it out. I also have roller reefing and fly a 150 jenny. Charlie
