Please realize, Bill, that PHRF ratings change in each area depending upon local conditions and the racing history of the fleet. I used to campaign an Express 37 that rated 64 in Monterey and 72 one hundred miles up the coast in San Francisco. That said, my 1998 h410 has a PHRF rating of 132 (San Francisco.) That's with a furling main, a three-blade prop, a deep keel, an allowance for having no headsail over 125%, and an assemetrical spinnaker of 165%. This is probably a very favorable rating for offshore racing, especially in reaching conditions, but to be competitive in around-the-buoys racing I'd really need to lighten up the boat. Unfortunately, there's no allowance for Wonderblond's 400 pairs of shoes or "my" 271 feet of chain or any of the other liveaboard factors that have dropped the waterline three inches.
