Here are some of our "local" PHRF handicapping adjustments for 2016.

Light weight. Up to 720 lbs. crew weight +3 secs/mile.
I guess they figure standard crew on a 22 ft. boat is 5 @ 180 lbs. or 900 lbs.
This is how our local PHRF "works".
Whisker pole adjustment for those racing non-spinnaker.
Assuming you are sailing with a 150 genoa,
you would get a +6 sec/mile adjustment if you are only using a pole = "J" ( your spinnaker pole.)
If you are using a whisker pole = 1.5 X J then no adjustment.
For the HRYRA.ORG races there are 3 spinnaker fleets broken up by PHRF #'s.
HRYRA = Hudson River Yacht Racing Association.
The HRYRA non-spinnaker is only one fleet, so an O'Day 22 PHRF 250+ could find themselves racing against a 32 ft. boat with PHRF around 180.
Needless to say I do not compete in these events.
