Went yesterday

I've been spoiled by the Annapolis & Newport Boat shows. That being said, the Philly show was okay but small. Hunter had a pretty good sampling of boats as did Catalina. A couple of Jenneaus & Benneteaus (forgive my spelling) were on display. Island Packet had a couple of boats, so did C&C (Tartan?). My only real complaint was that there weren't enough booths from vendors, and those that were there didn't have much inventory. I was going to pick up a quart of a nonslip sole finish and they didn't have any for sale, but they would ship. I was also was going to by some line, same thing happened there. I wish I could have seen the boats being trucked through the streets of Philly, especially the 49 ft Hunter. That must have been a sight! Manny

Thursday Also

We went Thursday too....Manny is 100% right. Sat threw three of the seminars and still had time to kill. The good thing (so we thought) was that it was so slow, we actually got to crawl around (I mean crawl) the IPs. We had teh engine compartment all to ourselves. Try doing that at the Annapolis boat show - you'll get stepped on a 100 times.

Philly

We were gonna go, but I looked at the list of exhibitors and wasn't impressed. Saw the production boats at Norwalk, saw the vendors at the NY show, and except for the Lats and Atts booth (I'd love to party with that group!), there was nothing else I really wanted to see to make the trip worth while. Was hoping Pacific Seacraft and Valiant would be there. Wish they'd go back to doing Atlantic City and Liberty Landing. So instead of the boat show this weekend, it will be the international motorcycle show in NYC.

Waste of Time and Money

We went today. Sorry guys but can't call this a show. When West Marine and Boaters World are not there this means something. In one word SMALL. No good deals. Parking was $24.00 food was crazy so we went to China Town for lunch. Once you have been to the real thing this was the pits. Save your money take your wife or girl friend out a good dinner. Your rewards will be much greater. Just the look on the faces of all the workers in the booth told the story. They looked very bored. Have several friends that are dealers and Marina owners that said they will never come back. It cost them Big money to be there and no results. As one dealer stated I have people all over my boats that can't even afford the slip rental. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

I was there today

It is a small show! But being indoors is a big plus! I got a great deal on a traveler from Garhaurer. Nothings cheap in Philly. I highly reccommend a tour of the Reading Market too. great place to eat buy all kinds of foods! Denise

Don't waste your time

or money. Show is the smallest I have seen in many years. No Hobbie, Vanguard is missing, little in the way of electronics dealers, no paint companies. Way to many manufactures are missing. Even the Latts & Atts both were slow. This show is doomed. I too payed $24 for parking. I'll just go to Annapolis next year. Then just sit back and chill thru the winter. Move the show back to Atlantic City. At least there are the casinos and shows close by.

Went today for first time...

having lived in Annapolis and done the shows there for years, there is nothing to compare to it, but hey it's better than watching TV on a cold Friday. And, if you've ever done the Miami Show, there isn't much more on the Strictly Sail side of it (of course you've got the entire boating world over at the Conv Center.) Admission is fair, $12, but parking at $24 is really outrageous. But hey, I'm a cheapskate sailor. There were some tricks posted here in an earlier thread, but I fogot to take my file. I'd go again to support the show, but parking...not again. Didn't realize until I saw this thread that neither West nor Boater's had booths there. But they are sponsors and names are all over. Not sure what all that means - (a) that they weren't there, and (b) that I didnt notice it. Hunter really gets kudos for having the most boats there. And, with the small crowd you could view em easily. I'd like to let them and the dealers know we appreciate their effort. All in all, an ok fix for Jan. Now for Miami in Feb...
