Legend 45

I owned a Legend 45, actually 46'6" in length for over 11 years. It is a beautiful looking yacht and I got compliments on it from people who owned Hinckleys. We maintained it very well.The traveler was in the cockpit just aft of the companionway steps, not forward of the dodger. Great leverage over the boom.Some of the early models had excessive flex in the cabin top, since a main hatch sits between the rigging on either side of the cabin. Hunter created a great support, no flex system consisting of a stainless steel support arch in the main cabin. Looks great and we never had a problem with any window leaks, cabin flex, etc.A deep keel boat, it sails wonderfully in light and heavy air. Although it got some bad "press" in its early hull number days, I think, having sailed on a number of other yachts, and having a number of experienced helmsman sail with me, it is a great yacht.Why did I sell her? Well, we were coming to the point of having to look at replacing sails, dodger, bimini, look at installing a generator, airconditioning, other creature comforts, etc.We just purchased a Hunter 450, our sixth Hunter. Just have an engineer look it over. I'll miss her.

Hunter 45

I have owned Fairwind a 1988 H45 for 3 years. I am extremely satisfied with her. She is fast, stable and very confortable at anchor. Fairwind has her mainsheet traveler in the cockpit. So far this has not been a problem. I sailed her in Oregon for two years and then sailed her down the coast to San Fransisco in May. She was a pleasure to sail on the heavy wind passage south. Another real plus is that she is twelve years old and has the lines of a new boat. This is my 6th sailboat and by far the best overall.Gene

L45 Comments

I have owned Temptation a 1986 Legend 45 for 3 years and am very satisfied. She sails fast, straight and has been a pleasure to own. We spend a lot of time onthe Chesapeake Bay. We race her on the Bay and do well as long as it is not around the buoys as the smaller boats can accelerate faster. We have done a lot of work on the boat to upgrade the non-structural things. We too own a Leggend 45. We live in Belgium and our sail area is the North Sea.Up till now I nevver spotted another Hunter 45 in our waters.The boat is verry fast indeed and I would buy her again.Greg Cramer wrote (We have done a lot of work on the boat to upgrade the non-structural things.
