In France...

...cooking is considered too important to be left to women. Or so I've heard. :)

Thank you, Tom

My sense is that you whip up some pretty amazing meals in that galley of yours. You'll have to post some of your family recipies. ;) I appreciate your comments about the site. It's actually changed alot in the 4 years it's been around. Features have been added, and alot of new technology has been used to make information more accessible. The spirit of the place has not changed at all since it first started. Dick Vance and Steve Weisbrod and a handful of other owners were around in the very early days and could probably attest to that. This began from my frustrating attempts to find information on my Passage 42. My dealer was out of business and I had no idea I could even call Hunter. My ad agency had a lightly-used T1 line and server, and I had access some bulletin board code. The first post showed up about 5 minutes after the site went live and it hasn't slowed down since. About two years ago I retired from advertising and hooked up with Bly (a long-time sailing buddy) to see if we could take this from avocation to vocation. It's clearly never going to be a get-rich-quick dot com story, but it sure is fun. It's now grown to me and Bly and Karisa and LaDonna and Justin. The best part is, we get to spend our 40 hours (more like 60+) surrounded by sailors who are engaged in their passion. You can't beat that.

Peggy you are right but,

any girl (that is still an acceptable term where I come from) who does not appreciate a ribeye, baked potato, and a couple of beers as a wonderful dinner is going to be too high maintenance to bother with for very long. We savages enjoy more complicated meals also but you must enjoy the basics first. Second if we started out treating y'all to that sort of menu the next time out when the fare is only a bag of Tostitos, some salsa, and a Subway sandich we would never hear the end of it. Phil, A food and beverage forum would be a good addition to a great web-site but if it gets down to pillows and curtains I won't be too sure of it anymore.

There's a time and place for everything, Rick :)

But please tell us why a gal who enjoys good cookin' by a guy is higher maintenance than a guy who expects good cookin' from a gal? :) As for curtains and pillows, a little sewing ability can come in mighty handy when you have a ripped sail...or are we gals expected to do THAT for you too? <lol>!

Tread carefully here Rick

This is the kind of situation where I usually go down in flames. Best to quietly go work on the boat for a few hours. Greg H23 Faster-

Expectations

The point I wanted to make was not to expect a seven course gourmet meal all the time, and to appreciate what is done for you as it may be the absolute limit of their ability. As for guys we are very, very simple creatures (myself included) to show up naked and to bring beer is all that is required.
