Phil: Or should I address you as Mr. Herring when I am begging. I think that you need a shared Food/Beverage Forum. Everyone can post their favorite food/beverage remedies. We have had some really great stuff posted here over the last couple of months and they have all faded into the archives. Please, please Mr Herring, can we have our food/beverage forum now. Thats it for me, no more groveling. I'm back on my feet.

My turn

Please, please Mr. Herring, my well-being is at stake. I need a Shared Food/Beverage Forum as well. Oh can't you help this poor soon-to-be-liveaboard bachelor whose only source of nourishment is the content of this beloved site. I know I won't be able to survive without the advice and recipes of me fellow sailors made readily accessible with a new forum. Now I am having to search the archives daily for the recipe that will provide sustenance required to make it through the day. Your kindness and generosity shall never be obliterated. Oh thank you thank you. Uh....too much Steve?

Just about right.

This is really going to be great. We are going to hear about Jayhill (sounds better a one word name) getting ripped on these exotic beverages while TRYING to cook up some concoction. Oh jayhill just keep up the good work, this site won't be the same without you.

"Getting ripped on exotic beverages..."

Hmmmm...sounds like a plan for the weekend. I'll let you know HOW it goes. (If I recover. :) )

tell you what

As much as I love the groveling (and I want you to know I *really* do, especially from you guys), if we get a few more folks who would like this feature I'l cook up no pun intended) a recipe database you can search by name or ingredient. But it'll need some critical mass. the last time I made a forum like this it was Inside Story and it died a very slow and painful death....

da man say, just ask for it.

Well you read it here first. Tell da man that we want, we need, we gotta have, *I'm gonna die if I don't get it* (use this at home some times), or anything else. If you want a food and beverage forum with extensive capabilities ask Phil. This will be cool. When I only have a squash, hard boiled eggs, mustard, some hot pepper sauce, a half gallon of vodka and a lime HOW will show me what to cook up. Thanks Phil

Sounds like Steve's been in my fridge...

...'Cause he described the contents almost perfectly! I'm not sure I trust the squash, tho- unless it's heavily "purified" with the vodka... I'd like to see a food and beverage forum- It doesn't have to be too fancy, but I do like the idea of sharing it across all the C2 sites. It's always nice to get ideas from other people who understand the limits of using a galley. --Jon Bastien H23 '2 Sheets to the Wind'

Grill Recipes - Count me in!

I'm sure many people have grill recipes that they can share for appetizers or regular meals. We plan all our evening meals on the grill when we stay aboard. Phil, count me in!

More Input on Food/Beverage Forum

Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware we were in grovel mode for a new forum. Please read this thread and let everyone know your ideas or interest in a food and beverage forum shared amongst all the c2 sites. Believe, us bachelors really need this.

I haven't forgotten

Well, actually... I had. I've got a few clean-up items on my to-do list, but keep reminding me and I'll get to this.

Wassupwiddat Steve?

Jay: that should have read Wassupwiddat Phil? I sent him a private e-mail about this on Monday, indicating that I was getting hungry. Imagine this! He has NOT replied. I believe that this is an indication that he is: 1. Sleeping 2. Trying to avoid us. 3. Does not plan on doing it (but is not going to tell us) 4. Dreaming about those new boats he saw at Sail Expo. 5. Doing honey do's for Kim. 6. All the above. PHIL where are you? you need to defend me from Jayhill. I was also gone last week, so I could not badger him.

Databases to go

As I recall, the MIS reply to this kind of request is "8 months and $80,000." It's on the list of things to build and is being planned as I write this. It may be another week or so, though. I assume we'll all still be eating and drinking by then. :)

Sounds like the girls are all a flutter,

Jay and Steve, seem quite excited in establishing a forum for food, next thing they'll ask for is a knitting or macromay circle, I thyink the ladies, have too much time on their hands, I may be wromg, but come on guys, get a life, and if Phil, feels my response is not suitable, tell me phil, where do you draw the line????

I think your response is quite suitable

However, I also think that plenty of people cook on sailboats and are interested in galley-appropriate things to make.

I guess Tom hasn't heard...

...that men who are good cooks are very attractive to women. When it comes to a romantic evening aboard, being served a gourmet meal at anchor under a full moon in a secluded cove just beats the socks off an incinerated steak and a salad from the deli. :)

It takes a real man to make a spinach soufflé

And if the truth be known, men are always better cooks. Women can fill in as long as it's not important but for seriously GOOD food, let the men cook. The only reason women got the rep is from their strange compulsion to do the dishes after every meal. I don't get it? You've got all those extra dishes available, why not use them too before you wash? Greg H23 Faster-

To Phil,

My parents were born on the island of Sicilia, I was born and raised in New York city, on one side of canal street is Little Italy, the other China town, I was taught how to cook since I was old enough to walk, I was teethed on hard italian bread, soaked in home made red wine, I have no problem making a mess in the galley a couple of times daily, and people do enjoy the grub, but this web site, is a great piece of work, I don't know who started it, or how you're involved, I love it the way it is.
