Phil, I have found that the

still doesn't display the responses to the question. The headline might show 4 responses but the actual question might show 0. Tonight at 7:55 on the small boat site the question "Permits needed for towing trailer...." displayed 4 responses with only 3 actual. This was over a 15 min time frame. The question "Serial numbers on trailer...." regestered 4 responses with 0 displayed and this was over a much longer time frame. Thanks Phil, I just wish there was something that those of us that use this site could help you out with. If you have any ideas that we could help with please "holler". I'm actually not that dumb (holler)in real life unless it's about electronic devises. (but close) Ray S/V Speedy PS. Phil, I just went further down the forum list on questions I answered much earlier today and the responses did not show up in any case. There again it was in the smaller boat section

Here's what I need

Go to the page that is missing the replies, copy the address from the 'address' bar at the top of your browser, then paste it into a reply to this post. There are a number of different pages of code you could be using and this will help me locate the problem. Also, try this: quit your browser then launch it again and see if that helps. If you're using Internet Explorer, go to the Options section under Tools and look in the 'Content' tab. You should see something that asks how often you want check for new content. If you have a new borwser it may have an 'auto' option. Set that option for 'check every time.' Sorry for all the work, but it's a part of troubleshooting!

Thank you Dave!

That's just what I needed to know! I can add some code that will assist that, but Microsoft's newest browsers have a long memory... p.

Too soon to tell if the vanishing reply problem

has been solved, but your efforts to fix it seem to have created a new one: Everything I type in a reply now vanishes if I click back or forward to look again at another post in the thread. Iow, Joe asks a potty question...I may reply, someone else might, or several people might. My reply or someone else's generates another question, which is added to the thread as another reply. Answering that question takes me back to the original post...as I start to answer it, I decide I want to read the last question again, so I click on the back button. When I go back to my reply, everything I'd already typed is gone. If it ain't one d'd thing, it's another...right, Phil? :-(

Peggie, would this be helpful?

Would it be helpful if you could write a reply on the same screen with the reply, rather than having to jump back to the original post? That would eliminate the screen hopping and allow me to force a page reload so the proper number of replies appear.

Certainly worth trying, Phil

Being able to see what you're actually replying to is a definite plus many times. Btw...while you're making changes, I'd like to suggest one more: that the ability to delete a post altogether be added to the "edit post" feature.

Easy enough to do, but I wonder if it really the right thing to do. Might lead to a little more self-eding than we'd like. i can give it a try, though...
