Not more vinegar, but more frequently
A gallon through the pump won't do any more good than a cupful...the key is in using it often enough--weekly--to prevent the scale from hardening.Do NOT pour oil down the toilet...it won't prevent mineral buildup, plus it just washes out in a few flushes. The rebuild kit for your PH II included a little tube of SuperLube--the same thick teflon grease that was in the pump when it left the factory. If you used it, the toilet shouldn't need any additional lubrication till you winterize it next fall. If you didn't use it, WHY didn't you? To lubricate a PH II without taking the pump apart again: Locate the air valve on the front of the pump cylinder (little flat square nut with a hole in it)...unscrew it...put a healthy squirt of the the SuperLube in...pump the head a few times to spread it all over the inside of the cylinder...put the air valve back in...you're done. Takes all of 10 minutes, and should be done annually. The best time is in the fall, as part of winterizing...the grease protects the rubber parts from drying out while sitting unused for several months. Next spring, you don't have to do anything...your toilet has all the lubrication it needs till fall.
