Just don’t be testing the swimming ability of your knife.
The Admirals "tether clip" [post#60] assures we don't test that swimming ability. Now her swimming ability?
Jim...

PS: Quality vs. Quantity. let me check... I could buy 10 of mine versus 1 at $240 .... How often do we use this knife?:kick:

most knife injuries [industrial use] were from when they released the blade lock and blade snapped closed on the fingers.
Jim you might be thinking of the blade lock that requires you to push a release (spring steel bar) in the blade slot. I do not like those either. Why I carry a Benchmade knife.

Love this knife. Wish they made one with a marlin spike.

Yep.
People who use a knife for anything other than "cutting" find the need for a blade lock.

OMG... another $200+ knife!!!:yikes:

A friend gave me his knife after finishing the Whitbread Round the World Race some years back. It holds an edge like no knife I've ever owned. Left it on the salon table the first night and when I got up for a drink of water I couldn't figure out what the ghostly green glow on the table was!
What an incredibly brilliant idea for a sailing knife; It glows in the dark! Leave it to the French!
I stick the knife in a pocket when I want to carry it. I can easily pull it out with the lanyard, but unlike a loop, it won't get caught on anything. Stick the lanyard in my mouth and I can open it one handed.

Its a Wichard. The new ones do that too, glowing in yellow or green.

The marlin spike locks.
I am not sure I would like a locking blade, most knife injuries [industrial use] were from when they released the blade lock and blade snapped closed on the fingers.
I'm never heard of that, and it flying in the face of modern thinking that has every 'pro' sailing emergency knife now have a locking blade.

Dats why we have a forum! To help people learn. Note I said "industrial" not Pro Sailing. You are definitely the Pro Sailor!
I spent 30 years in the Safest Chemical Company in the world. 95% of our knife injuries were from the locking blade knife, MISUSE. They were not allowed on our plants, world wide.
Take care! Hic....

Agreed! That why I didn't refute it, just said it might not apply to sailing! ;^)

I think the point is that we often do not realize the danger of falling in the water. Seems easy enough to just swim until you can get back in the boat. We need to be reminded that it is way more dangerous than it seems.
