Hi, I have purchased a 1983 Catalina 30 and would like to get the cabin cousins re-covered. I live in San Diego however I would be willing to travel to say Long Beach if the savings were enough. Does anyone know of a person who does this? I bought the boat from this forum actually and the person who sold it to me had a number of a woman who has done this many times and is a little pricey but is good. Unfortunately he can not find the information. Any help would be appreciated. -CW

Buy from Catalina

The first thing I did when I bought my '77 C30 was to have all the cushions replaced. My wife & I shopped all the local canvas shops and got quotes. Then we went to our local Catalina dealer and was quoted a huge savings buying from Catalina direct. Makes sense. Catalina makes these cushions in big production. They already had the templates. And we didn't have to pay shipping, they sent our cushions cross country in a boat. I recommend calling them or going through your local Catalina dealer.

Catalina does not have Green!

Hi, I tried Catalina, they do not have a green fabric any more. My 30’ 1983 Catalina has a Hunter green (forest green) stripe on it. The canvas is Hunter Green. I have asked Catalina if I sent them the fabric would they do the work but have not heard back.

How about the foam?

Were you planning on replacing the foam too? If so, you still may do better buying the foam from Catalina. They have the templets and can crank that stuff out where as a custom shop will have to do a lot of hand work that will cost you.

Foam seems good

The foam seems good. I will take off the covers this weekend. I found a place in SD for Sunbrella (forest green) for 19.00 or so a yd for the furniture fabric. Catalina says you need 33 yards for a 30' with u shaped satee. I found a place online that is sending me some samples. Try looking at: Jacquards Linens Prints and Solids on the Furniture Fabrics links, they are Sunbrella. I am going to send the fabric to Catalina and have them make the covers because they do not have green any more.

Foam not so good (modl, fungus)

Well some prices of the foam seem good, well they are all in good shape however some prices have some mold in the foam. Is there some way of washing the foam so that all the mold or fungus is gone? If not then I will need to replace it. Thanks -CW

Catalina Factory

I shopped all around. The factory was the most economical. Two color choices, blue and green. I chose blue, they are perfect.

Green?

Hi, I called Catalina and they said they do not do green any more. How long ago did you get yours covered? Could be they made a mistake. I am waiting for some fabric samples that I ordered over the web and then I was going to have the fabric shipped to Catalina. Thanks -CW

Catalina is the Best

I bought a 1984 and the interior was really bad. The price quoted from Catalina was fair, they all fit, even the snaps were in the right spot. Get the foam as well, you don't put clean cloths on a dirty smelly kid.

Had mine done 12 yrs ago

Had all my interior replaced about 12 yrs ago, if I remember correctly it was a little under $2000. Stll about $1000 cheaper than going to the local shop.

In the process now

Hi, I am in the process now of having Catalina build my coushins. I have sent them 35 yards of fabric (two more than needed) that I bought off the web and am having it shipped directly to Catalina. Catalina told me to send them my old covers so they could put the snaps in the correct spots. Catalina quoted me $2400.00 for the covers and foam. They said they would deduct the cost of the fabric from the price because I sent it to them. They do not do green any more so I chose a sunbrella fabric that is a green print my wife and I like and like I said am having it shipped to them. I looked around and in San Diego you would think that I could get a better deal because every where I look there is a C30 but the people here in the marine fabric business sound like they never heard of a C30. My last quote was $2400.00 with out the foam and he said that he came down to that price! -CW

Your doing the right thing!

You'll be very happy with the results from Catalina. I told you right from the start, you''ll get the best price and as you will see, the best workmanship. It only makes sense, they are "the factory". They're tooled up to crank that stuff out in mass production. When I had them do my boat they shipped everything from Ca. to NY in a boat coming cross country. Didn't coat me a penny for shipping (thank God, 13 cushions!)Try to work something similar out if you can.
