Gotta say this was a great weekend to be hanging on our anchor in a secluded cove with good friends. The weather was exceptional, cool temps have returned to the drought ridden midwest. We were treated to a spectacular show last night as we shared conversation and cold drinks. The sky was free of any distracting stray light and virtually no cloud cover to block the Perseid Meteor Shower. Awesome at times, nature's light show lit up the skies soon after sundown and continue well into the wee hours. We saw at least a half dozen full blown meteors streak through the night sky like fiery comets leaving extended trails of sparkling embers. Lost count of all of the smaller meteors that made the final trip. All of this was accompanied by Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon serenading us from a neighboring boat. We've always wanted to see this and we were blessed to have had such a perfect night and front row seats under an incredible sky.

We enjoyed it here too.. sailed out a few miles and furled everything and drifted .. Some friends came out and we rafted for a while.. We had more haze and clouds than was optimal but we got to see some of the show! Pulled back into the slip around 01:30.. A fine evening.. The weak front had lowered our temperature to pleasant.. A fine evening !

I tried to see it too. We had a lot of clouds early on in the evening. I kept poking my head out of the hatch later on to dodge the no seeums that were terrible last night, but alas did not watch at the right time, & missed em. I do remember seeing huge numbers of meteors years ago in Prince Edward Island off the east coast of Canada. The skies were so clear there at night. You looked up & felt that you were in space. Awesome.
