Hi,

Has anyone tried to improve the performance of their C27? The only after maket part that I have seen is a performance rudder by rudder craft.

Anybody out there with any experience with performance enhancements?

Thanks

I see that you have a tall rig so that's a start for a C27. Experence and time at sea is everything. Once you're comfortable with your boat and have all the rigging run aft so you can play by yourself then the next level is to spend a winter reading and understanding the art of sail shape. Way too many sailors spend money buying all the toys and have little if any knowledge of sail adjustments and never tune the rigging on their boat.
Buy books, a Loos gauge and get seat time. Then take your GPS and set up a 1 1/2 to 2 mile three legged course. Now race yourself and you 'll find your speed.
If you have a auto pilot then use it on your course. I didn't have one and used a tiller lock. The way I'd run ALL my lines aft and with clam cleats and cam cleats I had a ball racing myself and was suprised at how fast I became.
Then I finally bought that new loose footed main and 150 head sail. My 110 was fairly new. That way I got to use the new sails for fun stuff rather that wear them out thinking that was the magic speed "pill".
Good luck,
Ray

Thanks for the responses,

i have been sailing the boat for quite a while, and am always very competitive with other c27 boats. I am however a tinkerer, and am always looking for something to change. I was wondering if anybody played with hull modifications to make the boat faster. As far as sail shape, I know that you never stop learning and getting better. I was looking to get the boat faster than the stock hull will go.
