If I couldn't drink or occasionally stay overnight, that would be a deal breaker for me!

Refering to the NAS marina - it just was mentioned to me by someone on one of my visits thre that they don't allow liveaboards. And you would be a fool to go thru the gate inebriated - it's a federal instalation. DUI = felony.

Robert - hope I didn't offend you with my speculation.

I think I have definately had enough input and great advice - I will rent for awhile

Thanks everyone - great discussion!

Not at all, it's been a pleasure helping introduce you to my town, being as I live here and all, and kind of like it.

The only time I got a little offended was when the guy from Tampa was explaining to me that I inaccurately described the winter weather here. That left me a little put upon, since I actually live here and he was speculating from 500 miles away. But I see he's pulled his post now, so it's all good.

Oh, and you're right, the Bayou Grande marina at NAS does not allow liveaboards, but they're fine with you staying onboard for the occasional night or weekend (we do it all the time), and they allow loopers or people passing through the area to stay onboard their boats at the transient pier, sometimes for weeks. There's a laundry room and restroom with showers available.

And I'm pretty sure you don't want to drive ANYWHERE in Florida while drunk, regardless of whether you're going through the gate at the base. The local troopers take a pretty dim view of such things.

Right on - Yeah when I make my move I can probably rent something pretty nice for awhile until I get my bearings. I can park the boat at the marina so I shouldn't need to much storage or garage space anyway.

Great news this morning! - I sold my tractor!

One less thing to tie me down...

Anybody looking to buy a snowblower?
