Pendant tube

Anybody have a cb pendant tube freeze during the winter and cause a problem? Can't see any way to winterize it in the slip on my O25.

Could be a real problem

Ron, Obviously I don't have to worry about that in Key Largo , but you might have a problem if it freezes. When I rebuilt my '77 O25 I had to cut the pendant tube to remove the galley. Considering how well the boat is built I was very surprised at how thin the walls were on the tube. Before I glassed it back into place I added several wraps of 7 0z. glass tape around the whole thing right to the top. If yours is as thin as mine was, I think that it could split if water does freeze in it. That sinking feeling would follow soon after the thaw. Sorry I don't have any good suggestions about how to fix your problem, but you are right to be concerned.

I don't think it is a problem

Since the water will only come up in the tube as far as the waterline I don't think it will freeze because it is in contact w/ unfrozen water below. In my case a deicer will be directed at the boat to keep it clear of ice.This will be the first winter in the water for this boat. I'll let you know. It'll give me something to think about if the temps drop extra low this winter.
